Water table has London proofs. Under lever island lock action is a conversion from pinfire to centerfire. Locks and fittings have 50% coverage of scroll engraving. Lockplates are marked "G. Jeffries". One piece straight grip stock of fine European walnut with wraparound hand checkering. Stock has German silver oval in toeline. LOP: 13 7/8" over a checkered horn buttplate. DAC: 1 5/8". DAH: 2 3/8". Stock has approx 1/8" cast on. Bore Diameter: (R) .744. (L) .743. Choke Constriction: (R) .007. (L) .004. Minimum Wall Thickness: (R) .034". (L) .029". WEIGHT: 6lb, 10.6oz. George Jeffries patent for his side motion breech loading action was issued on Dec. 9, 1862. Gun could be configured to use pin or central fire cartridges. CONDITION: bbls have good rebrowned finish. Locks are clean bright showing small spots of pitting. Underlever and triggerguard are reblued. Refinished stock with freshened checkering shows scattered marks. A plug-type repair on the forearm is located on right side above the takedown wedge. Horn buttplate is chipped at toe. Tight action with functioning locks. Bores are generally bright. (01-28489/DS).
